Some people think that frugal = frumpy. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. With a little planning and a keen eye, you will be ahead of the fashion class and way under budget.

Discount stores-Places like TJ Maxx and Name Brand Clothing buy their inventory from popular mall and department stores at a deep discount and pass the savings on to the customer. If you find something you like, buy it. These stores have limited inventory and often have only one-of-a-kind.
Consignment stores-These stores are a great resource to find up-scale, designer, formal wear, and otherwise high dollar items at a discount.
Second hand stores-These stores purchase clothes from individuals that are in good condition and fashionable. Often you can take in your old clothes and trade for additional store credit. {who WOULDN’T like the idea of trading in yesterdays too-tight jeans for fab?} My favorite resell shop sells designer denim for around $35.
Yard sales-Finding good clothes at a yard sale takes a little more work, but if you find a seller your size and with similar taste you can get great deals. I once got a Banana Republic sweater that was like new for $2!
Department store sales-I am addicted to old navy tanks and tees, so when they are on sale for $5 each I am getting one of every color. Do you have a certain item you can’t live without? Stock up at the lowest price!
Above all, remember the Golden rule of clothing shopping- It’s NOT a good deal if you WON’T wear it. It doesn’t matter if you get a Ralph Lauren skirt for $10, if it doesn’t make you feel good, it’s wasted money and wasting space. It takes a little practice to perfect the art of bargain hunting, but the first time your friends oggle your new $3 sweater it will all be worth it.

My favorite place to buy designer clothes is on EBay! If I have time and have a great event coming up that I “need” a really “kicking” outfit for, I start watching the St. John’s knits, etc. on eBay. Most all of their basics (navy, reds, blacks, etc. are all the same shade…) and face it, you can always wear those. I’ve picked up the skirts for as low as $10 and they were authentic and the blazers for as low as $65.
I also love to go into consignment stores to shop..especially in towns near big sports/culture type cities = $$ I have found top named brand clothing for $5-$15, especially at the end of the season when they’re really trying to move it out of their way and price it down.
Another neat thing to do is decide what you don’t wear anymore. Be brutally honest. Get several girlfriends to do the same and have them gather their belongings and bring them in good condition, on hangers, pressed and ready to go…(remember, you don’t want them anymore anyway) and let everybody try on clothes and take whatever they want that fits and looks good and that they like AND that they will wear. You may only leave with one scarf and a skirt, but so what….one of your friends just got a new wardrobe. And maybe next time you’ll be the lucky one. You’d have to set up your on rules, but it can be fun or at least it has been for us. Our husbands loved it because we didn’t spend a dime!!
I love to buy our clothes second hand. My husband says that the nice thing is that they are softer than brand new clothes. LOL
We have a large kids consignment sale coming up, and that’s where I am able to get almost all of my daughter’s clothes for the coming seasons. The selection is not as good for my boys (ages 7 & 9), but I come home with a huge variety of clothes for her.
At first thank you for your good information. There are very good information who need such types item. I think if anybody need such types item then internet is the best option.
