The Fashionista Who Wasn’t: Coping with Today’s Fashions
Fashion faux pas aside, I’ve always had issues with my clothes. Why? Because I’ve always had issues with my body. In fact, I have the clothes to prove it. In my closet, I have clothes for about six different women. Their sizes range from jumbo maternity to a svelt size 4 (my wedding dress proves I was thin…for about five minutes). Now, even if I choose to discount the many sizes, there are other issues which some of you might be able to relate to.
In case you didn’t know, being a woman in today’s world makes it difficult to wear clothing. It is virtually impossible for me to find clothes that don’t have plunging necklines or low cut thong lines. On a good day, I might be able to find something that my Grandma would like to borrow. On other days–which for the record are all bad–I’m stuck with clothes so tight that they could be mistaken as sausage casing. What’s a girl to do?
I tossed everything that didn’t fit or could be classified as “streetwalker-esque,” which left me with a very nice bed sheet. Don’t want that to be your story?
Here are some classy, respectable places women of various sizes can shop.
Ashley Stewart – beautiful, full-figure sizes that compliment every curve.
Rainbow Shops – if you’re into trend, then Rainbow is sure to have a style that suits you.
Donna Karan – if you’re into high end class and sophistication with a “Diva-esque” kind of flair, DKNY is the spot to shop. Plus, most of the DK designs compliment curvier figures.
Remember ladies, you don’t have to settle for bedsheet fashion–like yours truly. There are great alternatives for the fashionista challenged. So remember, if you see me in my toga just smile and wave…
