Finding The Perfect Jeans – Without Crying

There are two men who I would allow full access to my closet, Clinton Kelly and Tim Gunn.
I can imagine it now: me hanging my head in shame as I show Tim Gunn tank top after tank top with no plan to accessorize accordingly. Exasperated, I would look at Tim Gunn and say “At least I don’t wear my husbands jeans.” He would hug me and we’d have tea and cookies. I can make it work.

The search for the perfect pair of jeans is a yearly ritual in my house. It’s a cycle of tears, break-downs, Cinnabon and eventually, victory. When you find that match, it’s magical. A few things to remember:
- Know what you are trying to flaunt/hide. Booty, thighs, hips? There are jeans out there for every body. That said…
- Sales people are your friends. Befriend them. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions; they are there to help you.
- That cute pair of jeans your friend has…may not work for you. But ask where she got them and go from there.
- Don’t be afraid to try on anything. Often times I’m surprised at what works for me. I used to be a flare jeans kind of girl and I’ve evolved. Boot-cut, straight-leg, wide-leg. You never know until you try.
Good luck…and stay out of your husbands side of the closet.

Thanks for the tips, Trysha. I would also like to add that looking for a jean with a contoured waist is a good idea (i.e. it is a little higher in the back than the front). David Kahn is a good brand to try for this. Expensive – but will give you the look of what a contoured waist looks like.
