What You Put In, Is What You Get Out
One of the greatest beauty secrets I learned is that outer beauty begins with what we put inside of our bodies. Much like everything else–cars, life or nature–it’s impossible to expect outer beauty or perfection if we’re constantly neglecting the inner workings of the vessel or object. Outer beauty and inner health go hand in hand.
I’ve heard it said: without knowledge, people perish. Ignorance isn’t bliss, it’s dangerous. Want to be your most beautiful? Start by being selective about what you’re putting inside yourself. Start by separating fact from fiction:
Soda: Quick Pick Me Up or Kidney Killer?
I used to drink soda–lots of it. Some days, I’d need a boost of energy to get me through the work day. However, my once in a while boost, turned to a daily habit. Still my attitude was no harm, no foul, right? WRONG. Did you know that drinking 16oz or more of regular or diet soda on a daily basis almost doubles your risk of chronic kidney disease? Did you know that regular consumption of cola products often leads to lower levels of bone density in women? Hmm. Osteoperosis or a quick sugar boost? I made my decision. Have you?
Five Second Rule: It’s Totally Safe, Right?
I laughed for about 5 minutes when I heard my son say this: God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt. Apparently, he didn’t feel like making another sandwich when his fell on the floor. According to researchers, I should have made him throw it in the trash {instead of laughing hysterically}. Transfer between contaminated surfaces and dropped food is instantaneous. Meaning, as soon as it touches–even if it’s just a second–the food is contaminated. Dropped your food? Do yourself a favor and toss it.
Sugar: Nature’s Sweetener or Diabetes’ Ally?
You’ve heard the rumor: sugar consumption causes diabetes. Eating sugar does not cause diabetes BUT eating an excess of sugary foods or drinks DOES put you at increased risk of contracting diabetes. Remember, moderation, balance and a healthy dietary intake are KEY. Eat lots of fiber-soluble foods, opt for water (I like mine flavored with lemon, strawberries and cucumbers) and maintain a healthy weight.
Want more facts vs. rumors? Glad you asked.

omg I did not know that soda killed ur kidney! I used to be a strict water drinker, but my husband got me into tons of soda drinking! I craaaave it! I must stop!
Mamma M,
You’d be surprised at how unhealthy soda is for the body. In moderation, it’s not too bad. However, most of us get hooked to sugary stuff and we tend to drink WAY more than we should–ever. This is where it gets awful.
When I heard about the uses for Pepsi or Coke, I realized I HAD to make a change.

I drink soda occasionally and I try to keep it that way.
Thanks so much for sharing!
