“Want to live longer? Take care of your heart.”
I came across this tagline while flipping through an old magazine at the doctor’s office.
Below the tagline, were pictures of leafy veggies, fruits and grains. The message was clear: eating an abundance of these foods will put you on the path to a longer life and a healthier heart.
What a profound concept: what we consume, or use as fuel, affects our health and longevity of life.
So, here’s the million dollar question: what kinds of fuel do you consume to ensure the health of your inner heart?
Like the physical heart, our inner heart requires the right fuel that will enable our body, mind and spirit to function at peak capacity.
We should spurn junk fuels like bitterness, anger and envy as they only serve to clog or inhibit inner strength.
Instead, we should opt for life fuels like laughter, forgiveness and joy because they ensure the longevity of the inner self.
So, the next time you come across an ad for heart health, just know that you have more than one heart that needs the right fuel to live a longer, healthier life.
