4 Ways to a Wiser, More Blissful You
Discovering the wiser, more blissful you is more than just getting in touch with how you feel. It’s about learning and choosing how to think and respond differently to circumstances in our lives. It’s about freeing ourselves to accept the winds of change without compromising on our inner identity. It’s about making decisions and embracing the joy that comes with doing so. Are you ready? Good. Let’s begin.
Get Off the Treadmill
Ever run on a tread mill? Then you know how it works. You get on, you run and you work up a sweat. Works great in the exercise world but not so much in real life. Anytime you find yourself running, working up a sweat and not moving forward–or making any headway–you can be certain of one thing: there’s a problem. Sure, when you’re running–family, work, children, chores, school, house, etc.–your body feels like it’s getting a work out. At first, you feel great–like you’re accomplishing a great deal. But then your adrenaline stabilizes and you realize you’re still on the same path, running in the same place only now you’re drained of energy and direction. Doing the same thing and expecting different results will always rob you of your bliss and focus. The first step towards discovering wisdom and bliss begins with you: choose to get off the treadmill today.
Plan for the Probable
Okay, I’m off the treadmill. Now what? You’ve had enough of going nowhere fast. What’s a girl to do? Plan. Plan. And plan some more. It’s true that life often takes us by surprise. We find ourselves in predicaments that extend beyond the scope of anything we thought possible and most times, there’s very little we can do to stop it from happening. However, that’s not to say we can’t do anything at all. Taking the time to exercise a little planning can go a long way in coping with life’s surprises. Ask yourself: do you have any life or disability insurance? Do you have an emergency fund? Do you have a will or health proxy? No one likes to think about change but that doesn’t mean you don’t plan for the possibility of it happening. Preparing for the probable increases our ability to protect all that’s possible. Whatever your plans or aspirations PLAN for them–it will make change easier to manage.
