Friday I got brave and did something I NEVER thought I’d EVER do – I sugared my own eyebrows! “What is ‘sugaring’?” you ask. Well – it’s the same basic idea as waxing – sticky stuff that rips your unwanted hair off (in laymen’s terms! Ha!), but it’s all-natural, and you don’t have to heat it up, so there’s no risk of burns. And, dare I say, it was EASY! But let me start from the beginning.
In my swag bag from the Social Luxe Lounge at BlogHer09, we got a sample jar of Sugar Me Smooth. The Sugar Me Smooth people were also there on site demonstrating, but since I’d just had a pre-BlogHer brow wax, I didn’t pay them too much attention. Then, this past Friday, the day before my birthday party, I was staring forlornly at my unsightly overgrown eyebrows. I just hadn’t made time for a wax and I HATE plucking. You see, I am apparently part monkey and my brows grow waaaay down onto my eyelid – yuck! Since eyelids are so sensitive, plucking always brings me to tears – especially when I wait this long and have to do so MUCH of it.
Exhibit A: my scary, hairy eyebrows in their natural state:
Then, I remembered the Sugar Me Smooth sample. I got it out, and saw that it said to go to their website for instructions. So, I did. I watched the instructional video – it was short, sweet, and easy to understand. Even though they demonstrated on someone’s arm, the basic idea is the same. So, I took a deep breath, headed to my bathroom mirror, and I DID IT!! It was so exciting. I do not know when I have been prouder of myself. I mean, I had every confidence that I could graduate from college but I had NO confidence that I could sugar my own eyebrows! But Sugar Me Smooth made it so easy! I still had to pluck maybe 5-10 hairs, but compared to the THIRTY I was going to have to pluck, that was nothing. Plus, the Sugar Me Smooth sugar rinsed off so easily, and left my eyebrow area nice and smooth.
Here’s photographic proof. Exhibit B: my eyebrows at my birthday party the next day:
(I know it’s not as good a quality of a picture but the brows are MUCH BETTER, eh?)
And here’s the Sugar Me Smooth instructional video I watched. The Sugar Me Smooth people don’t even know I’m writing this – I just happened to use the sample they gave out at BlogHer and I LOVE it so I wanted to share. I highly recommend this product and I’ll be using it again as soon as my brows start to get unruly! Enjoy!

I’m impressed! I may just have to try this because the last time I had my brows waxed, the wax was too hot and burned my skin so badly!
I like sugaring for other body parts, but nothing beats a good threading place for eyebrows!
Seriously, isn’t it AWESOME? I’m totally hooked. And as someone who has *ahem* a little extra unwanted hair, this stuff is a godsend.
Looks great! I need to try something that I don’t have to heat up because it is a PITA to run downstairs to microwave the wax. I have been a home waxer forEVER! A great tip is that olive oil takes off the wax that gets left behind nicely. It works on hands, counter tops, heck even the floor. (Not that I know anything about that *snort*) I will check them out, my hair is notoriously (gosh I hope that is spelled right, the auto spell check on my iMac isn’t working right now…grrr) hard to remove unless its with certain types of wax. I haven’t sugared in years (that’s like Nad’s right?) I will let you know. And sorry that my comment got a bit long winded.
xoxo
Oh that’s awesome! I hate plucking too so I tried threading but I don’t have all the time to go to the mall and have this done so maybe sugaring would work! Can’t wait to try it!
