I’m a Dreamer. Are You?
Dream It. Own It. Do It.
As a young girl, I used to dream of being a dancer. I had been to numerous ballets, seen countless musicals and took many different dance classes. But I never did anything with it. Why? Because I honestly didn’t believe I COULD do anything about it.
Isn’t that just like life? We get so busy living how we’re supposed to live and doing what adults are supposed to do, that we forget what gave us the drive in the first place and filled our minds with anticipation and overwhelming excitement: our DREAMS.
Dreams don’t have to be the things of “childhoods past.” Instead, they can be the things of a future yet to be fulfilled. How? By following these tips:
- Own It ~ having a dream is wonderful but unless you’re willing to take charge of it and outline realistic steps to make it happen, it’ll always be “wishful thinking.”
- Do It ~ there’s no time like the present to do what you’ve dreamed of doing. Dispel the lies that fear and doubt bring to the table and decide to keep moving forward.
- Celebrate It ~ whether it’s learning a new language, opening a store or deciding to be a stay-at-home-mom, living your dream takes guts. So celebrate you! You deserve it.
Today, I’m studying dance at the Garth Fagan Dance School. In case you didn’t realize, Garth won a Tony award for choreographing the Lion King musical. While, I’m not nearly as good as his most inexperienced dancer, I AM living my DREAMS and I’m a better woman for it!
Dancing is MY DREAM and I’m living it. Are you living yours?

How do you keep from feeling guilty about taking time away from your family and your responsibilities to follow your dream? I want to be a published author, and I am currently writing for an internet company, but I tend to do my writing late and night after everyone in my house is asleep simply because I feel horribly guilty otherwise. What’s wrong with me?
Selena, I know this to be TRUE because I’ve lived it out in my own life! For YEARS, I wanted to be a stay-at-home, work-from-home mom…but I never put the ACTION behind making that dream come true.
Once I realized the mistake I was making (and got awfully tired of the “wishful thinking”), I put a plan in place and began to work my plan!
After 4 short months, I was able to replace my full-time income, and I now work from home, make more money doing it, AND it all came from a simple decision to not only start dreaming again…but to MOVE FORWARD WITH ACTIONS to make it come true!
Another great post, Sweet Lady!
Thanks!
Nicole you are too kind!! You know that ole saying that you can only speak from what you know?? Well, that’s this post in a nutshell. Thank you so much for sharing!
