Summer is a season of fun. But after days spent at the beach, in the pool, or even just in the sun, it can also be the season of damaged hair. If your summer celebrations have left your hair feeling a little lackluster, here are some tips to get it healthy and shiny again for fall.
Problem: Broken strands or split ends
Split ends are a common side effect of fun in the sun! The best way to get them fixed up is to get a nice trim. To keep them from coming back, use a leave-in conditioner like Infusium 23. Also, use a wide-tooth comb on wet hair rather than a brush. Combs are gentler so you’ll have less brushing-related breakage.
Problem: Dry or frizzy hair
Sun and the wet-and-dry routine of the pool or beach can really suck the moisture out of your hair. If your tresses are parched, use a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner like Loreal Vive Hydra Gloss. Once a week treat yourself to an extra-conditioning hair masque like Garnier Fructis Melting Masque or Pantene Pro-V Nourishing Moisture Replenishing Mask. If you’re battling the frizzies, comb a moisturizing serum or lotion through wet hair – try Sunsilk’s Hydra TLC or Got 2b Smooth Operator Smoothing Satin Drops.
Problem: Your color’s fading fast
The same elements that can dry your hair out during the summer can also strip it of that great color job you were so proud of! To get your color back into form, try an at-home color glaze like John Frieda Luminous Color Glaze. It will add an infusion of color, shine, and moisture to your hair in just minutes. Then, add a color-protecting shampoo and conditioner into your every day hair routine. Nexxus’ Color Assure and Dove’s Advanced Color Care are good lines to try.
Now that it’s past Labor Day, let’s get that sad post-summer hair in shape for fall!

I live in Texas, where FRIZZ is my name.
4 remedies that I have found:
If you have the money, Aveda Elements freaking rocks. It’s pricey though. Just as good:
Sunsilk Anti-Frizz daily leave in cream. It is formulated for wavy or curly hair prone to frizz… use a small amount though, or your hair will get kinda greasy look.
Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk- Instant smoothing and frizz control
Garnier Sleek and Shine Anti-Humidity Styling cream. Long-lasting hold and shine. I just found this one recently at Target, I luuuuurve it.
What I do, is shower, and then do a cold rinse to seal the cuticle. Then, I lather up my wet hair with one of these creams. It works with the hair better when it’s wet.
