Of all the remedies there are for coffee, this one definitely caught my attention.
According to Don’t Be Sore, drinking coffee after a workout helps to alleviate post workout symptoms like muscle pain and soreness.
The reason?
Coffee contains caffeine and caffeine is a natural blocker of the chemicals that induce pain in most of the body’s tissues including the brain and muscles. It is recommended that you take 2 to 5 mg of caffeine for every kilogram of your weight. If coffee makes you jittery, you are discouraged from following this regiment.
So, next time you decide to hit that treadmill after a two-month hiatus, you may want to bring a “cup of Joe” along for the ride.

how odd. course, coffee is not the only drink with caffeine. and it seems really weird after a hot, sweaty workout. course, i guess this is to keep people from taking ibuprofen?
Michele, I thought the same thing: coffee after a workout, really? I don’t drink the stuff so it makes me no difference. But I suppose one could have iced coffee, right? =)
Have a great day!
This is so true! It is also helpful for anyone who deals with the issue of chronic pain. (Speaking from my own experience!) ★
Wow! It’s different when you have a real live person saying it works. Kind of makes me want to rethink my stance on coffee…almost. =))
