Much like Jill, I am probably one of the last people in the world to try out a mineral make-up. Mostly it’s because I am a cheap person and usually don’t wear make-up. However, since I entered the workplace again a few months ago, I wear it almost everyday! When offered the chance to try some for *free* and review it, I jumped!
I was connected with Yannah, from Mere Minerals. I picked out a shade I thought would work with my skin tone, and she’d sent it out. I chose the #3 – Buff:
I thought I’d get a small enough sample for a day, maybe 2 to really test it out.
I was so excited when the package arrived and I got not only a large (20 gram) jar of the color I chose, but also 3 other shades in smaller (5 gram) “sample” size jars, a kabuki brush, and another sample size of the “White Sparkle” Multi-Purpose powder!
I waited until I had a day that I could really take my time, follow the enclosed application directions and try it out.
After washing and moisturizing, I applied the make-up according to Yannah’s directions and WOW! I couldn’t believe the difference! No blotchy spots, my skin felt smooth and natural, and I had barely used any of the powder! Unfortunately at the time my camera had gone missing, so I couldn’t take before and after shots.
After a couple days (and some especially cold New England weather), I noticed the shade I picked looked a little dark and didn’t match the rest of my skin. I had found my camera, and decided to try it again, with the lighter shade from the samples I was sent.

after
Amazing! After 5 days use, my skin still had no breakouts, the foundation stayed put all day, and washed off easily with no residue. I was hooked. The lighter tone matched my skin perfectly, and I think it’s obvious I have found a new make-up!
The best part of this whole experience? The pricing. Mineral make-up is usually rather costly, at least if you try other “name brands”. Mere Minerals is really frugal in their pricing, and the product lasts a long time! It took me nearly 10 days of continual use to finally use up my small sample size! If you do the math, a large jar will last you about 6 weeks, if not more!
I would definitely recommend this brand of mineral make-up to anyone who was interested in trying something with great coverage, lasting finish, and a great bonus of keeping your skin free of blemishes and looking healthy even after removal.
Mere Minerals does not use any fillers, talc, cornstarch, or bismuth in any of their products. They also do NOT do any testing on animals. Their product line consists of loose powder foundations, multi-purpose powders, mineral veils, blushes and eye shadows. The company also carries concealers, mascaras and application brushes for their great products.
Thank you, Yannah, for introducing me to a great product! I’ll be ordering more soon!

Wow! The before and after are so helpful. It does make a really nice difference. I’ve been wanting to try mineral make-up for some time, but didn’t want to spend a bunch of money, not knowing if it work well for me. I am definitely going to give mere minerals a try.
