If you’re like me then you’re probably prone to skin that looks like this in the winter.
Cracked, dull, and as dry as the Sahara on a hot summer day. Blech! But fortunately, there is a solution: HYDRATION.
Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. Hydration is more than just getting the body’s proper dosage of water; it’s about using products that are designed to hydrate and restore dry skin. Here are a few of my favorite to do’s that help keep my skin looking radiant, even in the winter.
Use warm water, not hot ~ when I shower I love to use hot water but this often results in me having dry, tight skin afterwards. So, I improvise, ergo I cheat. I take my shower at my regular setting and just before I get out, I put it on a cooler setting.
Oil and water do mix; sort of ~ I love to add oil to my skin, right after my shower. Aside from giving me a splendid glow, it leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed. My oil faves are: almond and avocado. For added pleasure, I add perfume/scents to my oils.
All lotions are created equal; NOT ~ if there’s one thing I’ve learned about lotion it’s this: just because it looks cute in the store, doesn’t mean it’ll be cute when you put it on. I can’t tell you how many times I fell for the pretty packaging only to be disappointed with the product. Here are some products that worked wonders for me; they just might work for you too!
- Oil of Olay Quench: not only does this smell GOOD. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and silky with a illuminescent glow.
- Skin So Soft: There’s a reason why this lotion is as popular today as it was twenty years ago; it works! And it even comes in scrumptious categories like Soft & Sensual. Shop here.
- Bath & Body Works Body Butter: I sampled this in the store and never went back. My fave is mango. Mmm, sounds wonderful doesn’t it?
What’s your winter regiment for your skin? Inquiring minds want to know.

My all time favorite is Hempz, you can get it at salons or beauty stores and it’s very hydrating without being greasy. It also has a really nice, soft scent that’s enjoyable but not overpowering or perfume-y.
Ooo, Hempz sounds like something I’d love to feature in another edition of BY. Thank you so much for sharing, V. Higgins. It truly sounds delightful!
