I’m not a morning person.
I set the timer on my coffee pot at night only to add extra snooze alarms to my alarm clock in the morning. At all costs, I start my day earlier because I know it’ll be tough to get me moving.
If I there’s a step that can be skipped when I’m getting ready in the morning, I’ll skip it. Many times I’ll shower at night just for this reason and I almost never wear make-up to work (that step happens at about 10 am while I’m at my desk. Heh.).
But I almost never leave the house without a piece of jewelry on.
A little bling on this Mommy’s ears goes a long way to making me feel more like a professional woman and less like a Mom.
It helps me make the transition from snack-providing-diaper-changing-fight-dissolver to heel-wearing-meeting-having wonder woman.
And while my “streamlined” morning routine is brief, I always make time to grab my little gold hoops.
I bought these earrings and wore them when I got married nearly six years ago. You can buy similar ones (gold over silver) for around $10-15 if you can catch them on sale.
They go miles toward making you feel more put together.

Great post!
I’ve found that those tiny, crystal nose studs are the only ones that 1) don’t irritate my ears and 2) I can leave in indefeinitely without worrying about them catching on things. Good for you for finding that ‘little thing’ that makes you feel ready to face the day!
I have incredibly sensitive ears so I’m on the hunt for ‘minimal maintenance’ earrings.
After reading your post, I put on my gold hoops before leaving the house. You are right – immediately glammed up my attitude.
