It’s mid-August, and even though it’s still hot and humid out, it’s time to start thinking about transitioning your summer wardrobe into fall. If you’re like me, and not quite ready to drop a dime on sweaters and jackets you won’t be able to wear for another six weeks, here are some easy pieces you probably already have in your closet that can easily transition from summer to fall.
1) The denim pencil skirt

This is a great transtional piece because it a) goes with everything, b) is comfortable in hot summer weather or milder fall temperatures, and c) can be easily dressed up or down. The one pictured is the one I own, from Lands’ End, and I love it! So comfortable, a nice-quality denim, and truly a piece of clothing I will use for years.
2) A short-sleeved or 3/4-sleeved cardigan

A lightweight cardigan with a short or 3/4-length sleeve like this one from Shade Clothing will keep you warm in highly air conditioned rooms in summer or cool on a crisp fall day. Just make sure and choose a neutral color that will work in any season.
3) A lightweight scarf
If you are a regular Blissful Style reader (and really, why wouldn’t you be!?), you know I big puffy heart scarves. A good scarf can totally change your outfit! They are truly such a versatile accessory – I mean – one size fits all!! Choose one in colors that work for both summer and fall like the one pictured above from Old Navy, or go with a dependable neutral – either way you can’t go wrong as long as your scarf is a lighter-weight fabric.
So there you have it. Your transitional wardrobe basics. Now get to your closet and start planning some outfits!
