Having grown up on the rather plus-sized side of things, I slowly learned that I could not do my clothes shopping just anywhere. Sure, certain clothing items were found in “regular” stores… but it wasn’t a regular occasion that I could just walk into any store and find that perfect outfit.
After accepting the fact that I could not do that, I gave in. So many people wear frumpy old clothes just because they don’t want to go out and buy new clothes that compliment their body. Some people absolutely refuse to buy new clothes because “they’re going to lose the weight and fit into them again!” However, I feel differently… If I’m going to be plus sized, I’m going to try to look as cute as possible! Now that retailers are actually accepting the fact that our society isn’t all on the thin side, they have been incorporating cute clothes IN THE STORE for us too!
Here are some of my favorite outfits that I’ve found that look rather cute on us plus-sized women. I’ve found Old Navy, Maurices and Lane Bryant to have the best looking plus-sized clothing.
Personally I’ve found Old Navy and Maurice’s to be my favorites as they are a little more affordable AND their plus sized clothing is available IN THE STORE! You can actually try it on IN THE DRESSING ROOM instead of ordering it online, and having to wait to try it on in your own home. There is nothing that bothers me more when it comes to clothes shopping when I can’t physically touch and feel something and try it on. If it doesn’t fit you have to deal with returning it to the store or mailing it back, and reordering the item online in a different size. You end up with a bunch of delayed time, and that can be stressful!
With a greater clothing selection available, I’ve found that being plus-sized isn’t always so bad; we can look super cute too! Are you a plus-sized diva? Share your fashion secrets in the Blissfully Domestic Forums!

Has Old Navy put plus sizes back in the store? I thought they had moved it all online.
Hi Monica-
I was just at my Old Navy near me about a week ago and their was plus sized there…..
Maybe it’s a slow transition?
I’ve never heard of Maurices, but that doesn’t matter cause the closest store is 6 hours away. Lane Bryant has the cutest clothes hands down, plus they’re made better then Old Navy. LB might seem expensive but if you sign up for their coupons and go during sales you’ll spend less then you would at Old Navy. Plus their credit card has a points system, after 400 bucks you get 30 bucks. Not to bad.
80% of my clothes are from LB, a few from Target.
I’ve ordered Old Navy plus online but I always end up shipping it back. The website still stay plus is available online only.
If you have a Dress Barn around you, go check out their clothing. I, fortunately, have a Dress Barn and a Lane Bryant right next to each other! The LB is small so it doesn’t have alot of the cute stuff in the store that they have online.
You left one out…TORRID…is a great place to shop for plus-sized clothes…they carry a 4-way stretch jean that fits great and doesn’t “grow” after wearing for a while. Check them out at http://www.torrid.com and see what you think. They are focused toward ages 18-35, but I’m almost 50 and I wear a LOT of their stuff.
You need to go to Ashley Stewart it’s a very nice plus size store. A.S. STORE has clothes for tall, average and petties plus size woman. Good deals go online and check it out. You will be suprise.
Did you know that Dress Barn ownes Maurices. Best time to shop at dress barn is on Weds. thats when they mark items on sale. Maurices does there every other monday.
