If you are one of the 500 or so lady bloggers who will be descending on Nashville for the super-awesome sold-out BlissDom conference next weekend, you have probably had or are currently having a major freak-out about what to wear. Never fear, I am here to help! Well, sort of. You see, I don’t exactly have my accessories nailed down yet! But I’ve still got some great guidelines on what makes cute & comfortable conference-wear for day and night!
1) Dress up a basic. Shade Clothing is my clothing sponsor for BlissDom. (They have a cool new blog, too, Your Life in Shade – check it out!) They gave me a two tops, a blazer, and a dress that I’ll be wearing. If you read this blog you know that I LOVE Shade and I am probably their best customer! So I am super-exited to wear their stuff at BlissDom. I am wearing this basic striped tee during the day. I love the colors and the comfort. To give it some extra flair, I’m going to wear it with this fab black blazer, also from Shade.
I love the way the blazer is so fitted, hitting me at my smallest part, and also the length – I love seeing the contrast of the black with the colorful stripes. A pair of dark-wash jeans and some black boots and this outfit is good to go!
2) Nothing beats a good pair of jeans. If you want to be dressy AND comfortable, go with a dark-wash jean. Boot-cut look good on most body types, or go with skinny jeans if you can pull it off! The ultra-fit slim leg jean from Lands’ End is a great skinny-er jean to tuck into boots, and these Gap Perfect Boot jeans are an excellent choice for boot cut.
3) Go for fit, rather than fancy. I know we all want to make a splash at the BlissDom cocktail parties, but going with a dress that is overly-trendy or too formal is not the way to do it. I mean if someone steps on your floor-length train and your strapless gown comes off, you will certainly be remembered and your blog traffic will probably go up (especially if someone twitpics it), but I am guessing that is not the legacy you want to leave. I prefer classic styles that look good on your body type! I’ll be wearing this pretty pink interlock dress from Shade Clothing:
It might be even more simple than I’d usually go with for a cocktail party, but I love, love, love the fit and the bright color. It fits me absolutely perfectly and it is so comfortable. A pair of pretty pumps, a funky necklace or scarf, and a cute bag are all I need to be party-ready in this number. And guess what – the style is so flattering that I don’t even need to wear my shapewear with it! Woohoo! Here’s another dress style I think would be great for BlissDom, from Banana Republic:
I love the way the black banding at the waist is so slimming, and the neckline is really flattering for anyone average or small-busted.
Then, of course, there’s always the classic sheath dress. I don’t think you can go wrong with a sheath! If you want to add some flair, go for a nice color like a peacock blue, a fun retro polka-dot, or sophisticated animal-print. But make sure it fits well.
So, that’s my advice! Be comfortable, dress up what you already have, and concentrate on fit! Oh, and try not to sweat it too much! Chances are people will be too concerned with their own appearance to commit your fashions to memory. (After all, do any of you remember what I wore last year!? I’ll be impressed if you do!)

How cute are those clothes?! Thanks for passing along the site, I’m already getting hooked. Good thing I have a birthday coming up!
Hope you ladies have fun at BlissDom. The clothing from Shade is super cute!
I have a shirt just like your striped shirt that I got from land’s end-I LOVE it. I wear it lots more than I thought I would. Now the big question is should I wear it at Blissdom so we can be twinnies….LOL.
Can’t wait to see you next week. Also I need help with my hair because its crazy and I have NO idea what to do with it. You cover hair…right?
I love this post (and these clothes!). It was a good reminder to be yourself and be comfortable no matter what you wear.
Looking forward to meeting you and thanks for joining my Blissdom Link Up!
