Now that we’ve filled our bellies with turkey and stuffing it’s time to crank up the Christmas tunes, pull out the Christmas decor and start making Christmas crafts with the kids. Creating keepsake crafts with my kids is something I do all year long. But, Christmas keepsakes are even more special. I think it’s because after the season is over they all get packed away and forgotten about until the following year. When I pull the totes out of the attic and begin to unwrap each handmade craft is when the tears begin to fall. Hand prints that are no longer so tiny, coloring pages with scribbles outside of the lines, anything that each of them made that I can spark a memory from is so very special.
Today I have gathered together a bunch of crafts that you can sit down and do with your kids. Or, give them the supplies and let them surprise you with a little something that will make you shed a few tears years from today when they’ve all grown up.
/1/ Handprint Reindeer Antlers– I just love this craft! I think this would be super cute to do with an entire classroom full of kiddos. I might need to share this one with my boys’ teachers.
/2/ Holiday Crayons– Make this craft with the kids and then set them loose to color a bunch of art to hang. Or, wrap a couple in cellophane bags and give as small gifts. These would be PERFECT classmate gifts!
/3/ Recycled Nativity Set– This precious nativity set is made of all recycled items from around your home. This is a craft and a lesson in recycling in one. Never pass up an opportunity for a FUN teachable moment!
/4/ Reindeer– This little reindeer is so cute. He’d be a great craft for the little ones.
/5/ Singing Christmas Choir– My favorite part about these little people are their hats. You use children’s socks!
/6/ Ice Cream Cone Christmas Trees– Christmas wouldn’t be complete without sweet treats! You could create an entire forest of these cutie Christmas trees and then gobble them all up. Yummy!
/7/ Handprint Christmas Tree Apron– Grandma will be thrilled to receive this craft as a Christmas gift this year. Just think of how those hands will grow year after year.
/8/ Gingerbread Playdough– Sit down for a few minutes and knead your cares away. Your mind and your kids will thank you! Bonus: it’ll make your house smell like you’ve been baking something delicious all day long.
/9/ Thumbprint Christmas Lights– This makes a great, easy afternoon craft. You can make a bunch and send them to friends and family as Christmas “hello’s”. Everyone loves receiving snail mail.

/10/ Reindeer Rice Krispy Treats– Need a quick snack to send for the classroom Christmas party? Whip up a batch of regular Rice Krispy Treats and then let your little one help you turn them in to reindeer.
/11/ Interactive Gift Wrap– In my house we go around and let each family member open one gift at a time. It keeps from all of the kids opening their gifts all at once and my husband and I missing out on seeing their faces individually. When I found this gift wrap idea I thought it was GENIUS! While the little ones are waiting on their brothers and sisters they can be coloring their own gifts. I do believe I’ll be wrapping at least one gift this way for each of my five children.
/12/ Handprint Santa Ornaments– Another super cute gift idea! Make a whole army of Santa’s and use them as gift toppers. A keepsake and a piece of art.
