Back-to-School is right around the corner. The sales flyers and store front windows are proof in themselves that it’s almost time to send our kids back into the classroom. Do you have what it takes to save a little money and make a few of their supplies on your own? Or, would you like to simply add a little DIY to your school supply organization? Keep reading. I’ve got a few DIY tutorials to get you started!
/1/Pencil Pouch – Sure the pencil pouches at the big box stores are cheap, but are they this cute? With even a little sewing knowledge YOU can make this super cute pouch for all of your pencils and pens.
/2/Toddler Backpack – Almost always, our older children have a strong opinion on what color and style backpack they want to carry. Our preschoolers, on the other hand, are just excited to be going off to school! Take advantage of that little fact and make them a backpack that you still think is cute!
/3/ Lunch Bag – Sure you can go buy a lunch bag from the store. But, there’s bound to be someone in your child’s class who has the same one. Instead, make her one that’ll be sure to stand out from the others!
/4/ Nap Mat – Does your child’s school still have a nap time? If so, whip this TOO CUTE nap pad/bed roll up before the first day!
/5/ School Supply Organizer – Now that all of the back-to-school sales have started you’ve probably begun buying glue sticks, pencils, pens, crayons and everything else on the never-ending supply list. But, how will you keep it all organized before sending it to school? {and after school starts you’ll want to keep some supplies at home} An inexpensive over-the-door shoe organizer will do the trick!
/6/ Three-Tiered Upcycled Stand – Start thinking now about where the kiddos will be doing their homework. This three-tiered stand made from upcycled items will be the perfect location to store all of the supplies needed to complete their after school tasks.
/7/ Hand-Stamped Clothing Labels – Never lose another jacket, hat or pair of mittens again. With this step-by-step tutorial on how to create your own clothing labels you’ll always know which item belongs to your child. {Making sure the clothing makes it home and not into “lost and found” is a whole other problem!}
