My house seems empty now.
All the Christmas decorations are put away.
Just a month ago every available space was covered with greenery, ribbons, and countless decorations.

But now, it’s just vast expanses of … empty. Oh there are a few books, pictures, and candles scattered about but compared to 10 days ago … it’s empty.

And it feels good.
This January cleaning and clearing.
These empty spaces will eventually be filled with other precious things; but for now, they are beautiful reminders of the cleansing I receive every day from this amazing God who washes over me with fresh mercies every morning.
I will carefully choose every item that gains a place on the barren shelves and tables. Each one selected for its usefulness and beauty.
My prayer is that I will also be diligent to select what gains a place in my heart as well.
What are you carefully choosing for a place of honor in your heart this year?

My house looks empty too. And I’m “cleaning and clearing,” trying to make room for what God has in store for my family this year! Thanks for the reminder to focus on the beautiful!
