Are you a People Pleaser?
Do you scurry about trying to make everyone happy?
Does it bother you if someone doesn’t like you?
Oh boy, if you answered YES to any (or all) of those questions I can completely relate with you my friend. Seriously, it eats my lunch if I think that someone, gasp, doesn’t like me.
Come on, I’m a grown woman, why should it bother me if someone doesn’t think highly of me.
Why do I care? Because, for far too long, I have been a PEOPLE PLEASER!
I almost hate to admit that, but it is true, oh so true, and if you were honest, I would venture to say that quite a few of you can relate to that very statement too! Am I right?
I love this verse I found in 1 Thessalonians 2:4b in which it says, ”We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts.”
Don’t be a people pleaser, be a God pleaser!
Listen, until you and I STOP trying to please everyone else and START trying to please God we will forever be stuck in that cycle of being a People Pleaser.
Here’s the truth…We can’t be everything to everyone, so why don’t we just try to be the best ME (insert your name there) you can be for HIM. Because in all reality HE is the only one that it really matters what He thinks of us. Right?
If you and I want to be women who live with a PASSIONATE PURPOSE then we can do this for His glory!
So, today, take a minute, grab your Bible, get out your journal and ask God to show you how not to be a people pleaser, but a God pleaser.
Together, with God’s grace, strength, and wisdom, we can each take a step towards Him, which is all He has ever wanted…come on, you can do it!

I think I had a crisis about this people pleasing yesterday, so your message comes for GREAT TIMING for me!
I can so relate! However, I find that when I really feel God centered and only concerned about what HE thinks, people, often family members think I am being self righteous or mean. I truly don’t feel my actions are being mean or self righteous, I could definitely be wrong, but I honestly think others are just use to me always doing exactly what they want me to do and never questioning them. So, then I am even more concerned that “they” don’t like me…a vicious cycle! I pray everyday for God’s Will in my life and that I follow HIS plan, not mine.

Bee, it can be really hard especially when others are used to you putting other people’s priorities first…you’re on the right track…keep going!

Mel, I too am a people pleaser. I’d like to say reformed, but, I believe I will always have to guard against the tendency and continue to let God teach me more and better ways in this regard.
This was a great reminder for me! Thank you!
