I recently took my first big trip without my family since becoming a Mom. I was so excited and busy leading up to the trip that the usual fears and thoughts of “what if” didn’t settle in until I sat down on my first flight.
I stared out the window with an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. On cue, the enemy brought to mind the miracle plane crash from just three weeks before in NY. As panic started to grip me, I closed my eyes and asked the Lord for calmness.
The memory verse I had given my five year old daughter the week before came to mind as I prayed.
“Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.” Psalm 36:5
As the calmness I’d asked for came, I couldn’t help but smile. I often choose memory verses for her randomly and sometimes I try to match them to her letter of the week at school. That week had been completely random. At least, for me. What I hadn’t known was how the Lord would use that verse to soothe me a week later. There was nothing random about that, friends.
What a reminder that was! His love and his faithfulness know no bounds. Even miles above the comfort of the ground, He is faithful. I am never out of His reach.
