I have a problem.
In the not too distant future there will be water in my house, that is, if I don’t do something about it now. The people who started renovating the house before we bought it used a different kind of metal for the extensions and where the two metals meet they have started to rust.
The aluminium used in the extension was never meant to bond with the steel roof. They are not compatible. My ‘Senior Renovation Consultant’ AKA Grandad Jim told me that if you have a buffer between the two materials it will not rust. If you don’t have a buffer however, they not only rust but the aluminium turns to powder. Fortunately, we have caught it in time and will be able to apply another type of material in between the metals to stop the process.
As you build and extend your life here on earth, how are you going blending in with the world? How far into the process of success, security, materialism and individualism have you gone? We are not meant to blend in with the world, we are not compatible! Jesus said we are not of the world any more than He is of the world (John 17:14&16), yet it is our mission to be in the world and reaching others for Him. How do we do that?
“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth” John 17:15-17
To sanctify means to set apart. We are to be set apart by Gods word. If we try to bond with the world, slowly but surely the process of corrosion starts and we become rusted out and lose our usefulness. Apply the buffer of the Bible however, and you can stand strong and fulfil your individual mission here on earth!

Each day spend a few minutes reading your Bible (over here at Inspired Bliss, too).
-
Remember we are not here to blend in but to be set apart.
-
Ask God what part He wants you to play in the extension of His Kingdom
-
Read Eph 6:10-17 “and after you have done everything, stand”.

Wow Donna – you have the Best applications!!!! You know when a certain theme keeps coming up that God probably is trying to tell you something! Our guest speaker at church on Sunday night was talking about this very thing – he was saying that Jesus had such a great love for all the dregs of society and that is who he even spent lots of time with, but he never compromised his morality – so that’s what we should be doing – loving the world but staying true to our set of standards not theirs!! Thanks for the added reminder. Love your work!!!!
Good reminder. Thanks, Donna.
Great post, Donna! We all need that buffer.
What a terrific picture of how we are just incompatible with the world! Great reminder. Well done!
your problem with incompatibility between metals is a common problem it occurs a lot in the marine industry and is best solved by separation between the metals as you were told
