I don’t know how often you dust, but for me, it’s not very often. I don’t dust until it becomes a rather obvious eye sore.
For a few weeks I noticed my computer making rather laborious noises while running. One of the fans was running unusually loud.
Recently I decided to take the outer cover off to get a peek inside. This is what I found. I
know, scary right? Folks, that is a lot of dust! That’s what happens when it doesn’t get cleaned regularly.
As I was cleaning it, precisely with a cotton swab, it reminded me of the dirt
build up in my own heart.
The same effect happens when not cleaned regularly–when not brought to the Father to be cleansed, through reading His word, repentance and walking in His forgiveness. When I let days go by without coming to God, the dust builds in my heart and makes it harder for me to function the way I was created to. My original purpose becomes more strenuous than it should be, simply because I am carrying around extra weight [dust] that hasn’t been cleaned out.
All the little granules of everyday life
- anger
- frustrations
- failures
- selfishness
- weariness
- busyness
- fears
- never-ending to-do lists
- and the list goes on
As each thing builds on to the last, carrying on becomes awful strained–more than it ought to be. We drag our feet and can’t function properly. Eventually, if not cleaned, we will break. It can come out in the form of anger bursts, depression, and all kinds of other dysfunctions.
Let us make time with our Father a priority so that our hearts do not become heavy with “dust” it was never intended to carry. It slows us down and makes our work burdensome instead of a joy.
Is your heart carrying the weight of dust because it hasn’t been cleaned lately? Don’t wait. Take it to the Lord and leave it with Him~live free, the way you were created to!

I agree. There are things that we really need to let go. Let us free our hearts so we can live according to His will. Thank you so much for a post I can relate with.
