My hands are not my best feature. In fact, they are not pretty at all. They’re not slim or soft. They look and feel older than I actaully am. For reasons only known to God, I have very non-typical hands. However, these hands have a story to tell.
They may not be the most beautiful or the softest to the touch, but they have been used by God in more ways that I ever dreamed. As a younger woman, when I realized they didn’t look like every one else’s hands, I used to try to hide them. I didn’t realize what they were capable of. I mean, they weren’t normal, not beautiful.
Until they learned to play the piano.
What I deemed ugly, God used to lead thousands in worship. He used them to play as I sang His praises and give Him glory. My hands, the ones I find to be less than desirable, have made an impact on the world.
It’s no different with anything else in my life or yours that we find weak, ugly, or insignificant.
Through the power of Jesus Christ, we can and will be used by God to change the world!
Never underestimate the power of your weaknesses held in the beautiful hands of Christ.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

You are so right.
Plus, I want you to know that your hands look like my mom’s hands. And therefore, mine, too. Mine aren’t quite as wrinkly as my mom’s and they are MUCH smaller. I get picked on because I have small hands.
But as you say, these hands have been used a lot by God!
Looks as if your hands are pretty “hand-y” in serving God! (Sorry — couldn’t help myself
Thanks Natalie, that was an awesome post. Thankyou so much for sharing with us!
Your blog was very touching. I was looking for a cure for my ugly hands.. they look even worse (no offense) than yours. they are wrinkled and ugly. i’m so embarassed and i’ve heard comments made about them in the past. i ALWAYS hide them. not a day goes by that i dont look at my hands with sadness. i’m only 30 and my hands look 70.. aaghh.
But thank you again. Your blog is very inspirational.
