Let’s face it, a lot of us are addicted to blogging and social media. I am and I love it! Those activities tend to be sedentary. Being sedentary a lot tends to not be good for our body. While most of us probably won’t buy a walkstation or Geek cycle there are small steps you can take that will help you feel – and blog – better.

April is Physical Wellness Month
Let’s face it, a lot of us are addicted to blogging and social media. I am and I love it! Those activities tend to be sedentary. Being sedentary a lot tends to not be good for our body. While most of us probably won’t buy a walkstation or Geek cycle there are small steps you can take that will help you feel – and blog – better.1. Move your eyes around now and then. You don’t have to get out of your chair for this one! Do you tend to focus on the screen straight ahead of you? Every now and then roll your eyes or purposefully look around. When you do this you might notice that it loosens your neck up a bit too. If you wear contacts make sure you are blinking often to keep them moist.
2. Sit up straight and tuck that belly in. After a bit of consciously reminding yourself to sit up straight you will start doing it automatically.
3. Get up every so often and move around. Every so often is not just at meal times. On days when I really want to get things done I use my timer and set it for 15 minute intervals. I get 15 minutes at the computer and then I have to do something on my housework to-do list. Back and forth I go. It gets me out of my desk chair and more focused when I’m in it.
4. Use a stress ball or hand strengthener. If you are consuming content or just thinking you can pick up a stress ball and start squeezing. We’ve got to keep those hands and fingers strong for typing!
5. Make a habit of getting yourself and your kids outside. The fresh air and time together will be good for all of you. Maybe all you do is walk around one block or throw the ball for the dog to fetch, but you are using different muscles than when you are sitting at your desk. While you are out and about you could even make a video blog and have more content for your site.
Getting healthy is often done in small steps. Being healthier means that you won’t get sick as easy; you will have clearer focus and a brain ready to churn out ideas every day.
