or I Want To Start Vlogging. Now What?
You’re a busy mom holding together a family, blog, home business, and much more. Video is everywhere and you would like to be a part, but when do you have time to learn what you need?
Don’t panic. Take a deep breath and do it one step at a time.
First-what do you have that records video? Do you have…
- a webcam?
- regular camera that records video?
- video capability on your phone?
- a pocket camcorder?
- a friend or relative that will let you borrow theirs?
Second - think about what you want to say and how you can say it concisely. Go ahead and talk through it while the camera is off. You will want to keep your video short and sweet.
Third - record it! I challenge you to not do more than 3 takes. The idea is to get this video out there – not to be perfect.
Fourth – upload the video to a host. Set up a free account at whatever host you use.
- YouTube is the most popular.
- MomTV is the most fun.
- Blip.tv has a nice player and widget options.
- Viddler and Vimeo are two other popular options.
You only need to start with one host. Give yourself some time for the video to upload and process.
Fifth – Once your video is live look for the embed or share code. Copy that code and post it into a blog post under an introductory paragraph. In Blogger you can just enter the code where you type. In WordPress you will need to switch to HTML to insert the code.
These are the very first step of vlogging. There are lots more tips and a free ebook at Simple Vlogging Tips whenever you are ready go up the next step.
