What Can You Do With a Netbook and a Notebook?
If you are in the market for a new computer and want something portable, there are a few things to consider.
A chart on the capabilities of each can be found on the Intel site.
Both the netbook and notebook are great and sufficient if your needs are:
Email, chat, IM
Social networking (blog, Facebook, twitter)
Surf the Web
Stream audio/SD video
Casual Online Games
If you do any of the following then the netbook will not work and you really want to consider a notebook for your purchase.
PC Games
Mustitask
Create and edit videos, photos
Encode Music
Watch HD Movies
Use complex office software
It’s better to buy the most computer you can afford. This means looking at processor, memory and storage. If size is really the compelling factor, consider one of the 13 inch smaller ultrathin netbooks. Many have dual core processors that allow you to perform more complex functions or multitask. Check the features though. You may be giving up the CD/DVD drive to accomodate the thin profile. In the coming weeks we will explore storage options, in particular SSD vs HDD storage and why you should include that in your purchase decision.

This post is so timely for me Linda, I currently considering getting a netbook specifically to be able to blog on the go from anywhere.
Thanks for the great info.
Hmmm, Im not sure what would be best for me. I would really like something more compact for uni, so I need word docs and all internet access and listening to lectures… but perhaps the netbook would be enough.
What doe they retail for?
