The weight loss industry is always coming up with fabulous new books, pills, diets, exercises, etc. that promise you that trim waist you’ve always wanted. Do some of these work? Sure! But if there was one perfect way to lose weight, why the never-ending stream of new magic bullets?
The fact is, when trying to lose weight the crux of the issue is actually very simple…you need to take in less calories than you’re expending. That’s it. No gimmicks.
It’s estimated that in order to lose one pound of fat, you need to create a calorie deficit of 3,500 calories; thus, if you want to lose one pound per week, that’s about 500 calories per day.
So how can you achieve this caloric deficit? The bottom line is you need to either eat less (less calories in) or exercise more (more calories out)…but, ideally, a combination of both.
I’m embarking on a serious attempt to lose a few pounds…care to join me? Leave a comment below, email or tweet me, and let’s get this Less Calories In – More Calories Out party started! Let’s all cheer each other on and lose those pounds before the holiday season, and all of its temptations, are upon us.
(Remember, it’s always a good idea to get a go-ahead from your physician before starting a weight loss program.)

Calorie Counting has been the most essential part of my weight loss for the past year. Once you put it to math and see that it works, it really is pretty simple. I’ve lost 35 pounds in the past year from doing this – another 35 and I’ll have hit my goal! I just started writing a weekly post on my own blog about my efforts to lose weight to try and keep track of my goals, what’s working, what isn’t, etc. and I’d love to join you on your journey – having a community of people working towards a similar goal is a great motivator.
Good luck!
