The folks at 4 Survival To Go have put together emergency survival kits that contain everything you need and even some things you might not realize you need in case an emergency hits your family.

I got a firsthand look at the 72 hour emergency survival kit, which is packaged in a bright orange tote. The entire package is the size of a small six pack cooler and contains about 100 items including emergency food and water, sleeping bag, flashlight that doubles as a cell phone charger and first aid kit. I think it be great to have at least one pack for every member of the family, and having a daughter who goes to college in a hurricane area, a small pack like this is perfect. She certainly does not have the space to store all the items that she would need if purchased separately. But this is so compact that it would be no trouble to hide in a closet or under her bed. And at $99, this is an affordable alternative to stocking your closet with full size items.
