Tell us about the connection between our personalities and the scents we like! What does our choice in scent say about us?
I always say a woman’s perfume is her most powerful accessory. It’s a subtle accessory, but speaks volumes about your personality to the people around you. What’s your perfume saying about you? There is an undeniable connection between our personality and the scents we’re drawn to. Without even realizing it, we form impressions of people based on how they smell. Perfume companies know this, that’s why they use personality traits instead of ingredients to describe the perfume they’re selling. They’ll tell you a perfume is bold, daring & mysterious before they tell you it has notes of lotus flower, bergamot and water lily. We identify with scent personalities without even realizing it. Are you a flirt or a romantic? Floral scents will best portray your personality. Are you an intellectual theorist? Leafy fragrances are for you! Are you a shop-til-you-drop drama queen? Do you have any suggestions for setting just the right ambient mood in our homes for the holidays?
I love this question, because the answer is obviously different for everyone. I love a pine blend for the holidays (our December Scent of the Month, “Christmas Memories” is a beautiful pine blend), but some might prefer the smell of baked cookies and pies around the holidays. Others go for sweet vanilla and peppermint. This is the very reason I started Urban Botanic! Everyone can design their own unique fragrance, and no, you don’t need a degree in chemistry to do so! What are you in the mood for? And apple pie scent? Don’t go buy a separate apple pie candle, just use your own personal collection of Urban Botanic scents to create just the right mood. Try a drop of Green Apple and a drop of Cinnamon or Maple Spice. Or try one drop each of Chocolate, Brown Sugar & Coconut for a perfect german chocolate cake. The possibilities are endless, and it’s all up to you. One of my favorite mixtures is one I like to call “Sunshine & Pomegranate”. I just add one drop each of Pomegranate, Grapefruit, and Mandarin to my Fragrance Warmer, switch it on, and within 2 minutes I’m enjoying a very fresh, cheerful atmosphere in my home.

Do you have any secrets or strategies for getting a nice even subtle fresh scent throughout our home without the scent being overpowering?
Sometimes we want a fragrance to fill our home. Other times, we want a light scent throughout: one that will keep things fresh, but not hit you in the face when you walk in the room. That’s one of the main challenges we faced when developing our home fragrances, because we wanted customers to not just choose their scent, but also control the strength on the fly. You can have a light, even fragrance in the morning, and kick it up a notch for your holiday party that evening. It’s still just one product, only now you have control over every aspect of your home fragrance. Because we use pure fragrance oils without wax fillers that are in candles, you’re able to get a more true fragrance, and it lingers in the air longer and more evenly. I’ve heard some health concerns with the use of candles. What makes Urban Botanic a safer alternative?
