Fall is here — the kids are back in school, and it’s time for football, falling leaves, and family traditions! Everyone has their own favorite things about fall. My husband and I make an event of it — the house gets a thorough cleaning (we call it allergy-proofing), plus I swap out the candles and go from lighter, citrus scents to heavier ones like vanilla and cinnamon. The fire pit makes its first appearance in the backyard and we build massive piles of leaves for the kids to jump into. I also transition my cooking from salads and lighter dishes to heartier soups and casseroles, and we really get into decorating for fall and Halloween.
So, now that we’re getting back to fall, it’s time for a contest!
Prizes? Oh right…we have a prize. A really awesome one.

Our friends at ScanPan have generously offered an 11 inch Scanpan CTX covered saute pan (retail $259.95) that is safe for you and the earth. The unique cooking surface is safe for metal utensils and allows for browning, searing and deglazing, which are things you can’t do with traditional nonstick cookware.
It requires little to no fat for cooking, so you can enjoy a healthy meal with minimal clean-up. The 5-layer clad-aluminum construction evenly and efficiently distributes heat without creating hotspots. All Scanpan cookware is oven safe to 500°F and cleans up easily in the dishwasher.
Scanpan is available exclusively at Sur La Table, both at stores nationwide and online.
Editor’s note: I have a piece of Scanpan, which the manufacturer gave me during a previous giveaway, and I can personally attest that it is that good!
So how can you get your hands on this little beauty?
Leave a comment below about your favorite fall activity, whether it is cooking, baking, or decorating. Feel free to share the love by posting photos, blog links, and/or recipes. You can also receive an extra entry by blogging or tweeting about the contest (post a comment with the link). Contest ends Friday, 10PM central time.
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED! Thanks for entering!

My favorite fall activity is our annual trip to the pumpkin farm. The kids get to have pony rides and we all ride on a horse drawn wagon to the pumpkin patch. Afterwards, it is homemade pumpkin spice donuts and apple cider. We all bundle up in sweaters and every year we have someone take a family photo of us somewhere at the farm. We all love it!
Our favorite Fall activity is watching football games…either at the stadium or on t.v. I always make lots of appetizers and we don our team colors. Lots of fun!
I love fall because it means football is back, plus I can start cooking soups again. I am not sure which part is my favorite but I would probably lean to football.
I can’t wait to decorate for fall… I almost started this past weekend, but am forcing myself to wait a little longer!
I love taking pictures of the trees in fall. Earth provides me with the most perfect background for taking pictures of my red-headed daughter with the same color leaves of her hair behind her.
And I love the football too. Go Packers! ;0)
And if I win these pots and pans then I can spend the money I have been saving (seriously. I have been saving for new pots.) on a much needed eye wax. My Uni-brow will be most gracious. LOL.
My favorite fall activity is the decorating. I was so excited this year I already made a wreath for my front door and am working on a topiary for the kitchen. I am new to cooking so new pots would be just the inspiration i need.
My favorite fall activity is making soups. I am a huge soup fan and always love this time of year when I can make all kinds of homemade soups.
I love to make stews or meals that require simmering or cooking in the oven – delicious, comfort-food smells
Love taking a walk and smelling the leaves or going to the grocery store and smelling the apples.
I love fall
My favorite fall activity is the return of slow cooking and comfort foods. I missed my oven!
I sent a tweet; http://twitter.com/HSlater351/status/3840573454
I love taking the kiddo apple picking and then baking a pie with those apples!
My favorite fall activity is raking and playing in the leaves with my kids.
I love going to the pumpkin patch with my kids and letting them pick out their favorite pumpkin.
I love fall baking! I go a little crazy with the pumpkin…breads, muffins, sauces! I also love sitting outside in the crisp fall evenings with a mug of apple cider!
I love to carve pumpkins and bake the pumpkin seeds. It’s such a fun family activity!
my favorite fall activity is getting a pumpkin spice latte from starbucks! LOL! otherwise, I enjoy being outside in the fall weather, for fall sports, gardening, etc.
One of my favorite Fall activities is to knit or crochet warm gifts for family, friends, and those at our local homeless shelter.
My husband would say football games, but I just like being outside in the fall weather. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right!

Fall mean Halloween for me and that’s my favorite holiday of the year. I’m already pulling out all my Halloween decorations and getting ready to decorate the outside of my house this weekend so it’s all ready to go on October 1. Fall also means pumpkins and baking. I’m looking forward to the smell of fresh-baked pumpkin bread too.

Fall is my favorite time of year. I get to pull out my winter recipes, resume my quilting, and enjoy the beautiful scenery! I could go on and on!
Thank you for hosting a giveaway!
We love to go apple picking and down to Cape Cod. Thanks for the chance.
My favorite fall activity is to go to all the festivals and just enjoy being out in the wonderful weather!
My favorite fall activity is taking my family to the pumpkin patch. We go on a hay ride, pick our pumpkins, drink fresh apple cider. And sometimes we go to a cornfield maize. I love Autumn!
Fall craft shows. I can’t wait.
I love to make a big mug of homemade hot chocolate and sit outside on the swing when the air is cool and crisp. I love wrapping up in a big blanket with my daughter and just enjoying the weather! Ohhhh! I can’t wait for it to cool off here!!
My favorite fall activity is picking apples and baking as much as I can. I love the flavor of apples in cookies and muffins, as well as anything with pumpkin in it.
Can’t limit myself to just one favorite fall activity. So – I’ll have to include making applesauce, bottling peaches, and watching college football.
mmmm…my favorite fall activity is driving west to an apple orchard, picking apples and making the first apple pie of the season. nothing beats it!
I Love love love summer, but fall is my 2nd favorite season. My favorite thing to do is to go pumpkin picking with my husband. We dont’ have kids yet, so we take our little dog to the pumpkin patch..pck out pumpkins, buy great apple cider and cider donuts!! Yummy!!!
i love so much about fall. but i think my favorite activity is carving pumpkins every year. i just love trying to think of something creative to do (not that it ever turns out as spectacular as i’ve imagined, but it is the thought that counts!)
Fall means on pot cooking for me. A lot of soups and stews. Anything I can do that is hearty, warn and filling. We watch a whole bunch of football including professional, college and even reruns. Friends come over and the cooking starts. We all kinds of football food and lots of it. We share and take home stuff which means lunches for the next week. The perfect night would be wrapping up in a blanket with something warm and heartly and watching the sun set and the stars come out shining bright!
Our favorite activities are apple picking and – later on – picking the perfect pumpkin and carving it into a jack-o-lantern
Thank you for the giveaway!
i love breaking out the cozy sweaters and boots! and cooking all those warm, yummy comfort foods that i never make during the summer.
My favorite fall activity is the decorating…I LOVE fall colors!! I also love to bake with the fall flavors of apple and pumpkin.
I love to cook/bake!! I’m mean – REALLY love it! During the fall season, I especially enjoy making tasty breads and warm stews!! (:
Fall is my favorite season! I love new school supplies and shopping for that first day of school outfit. Bonfires, football games and the crunch of leaves underfoot – all are some of my favorite sounds. The last tomatoes harvested from my garden always seem a little sweeter. I even blogged about Fall: http://practicallynetter.blogspot.com/2008/08/falling.html
Enjoy this fabulous time of year!
Fall is my favorite reasons…so many things I love to do now.
Trick or treat day – My husband takes it off work every year, so he doesn’t miss the anticipation. I cook soup in my crock pot for dinner as we prepare for the fun night. I read Halloween Pie and bake the Halloween Pie (pumpkin) per the directions in the back of the book with the help of my sons. We enjoy the pie after trick or treating is over. – BETTER than candy in my opinion.
Thanks for asking. I really do love all things fall.
My favorite fall activity is taking walks: watching the leaves change, feeling the crisp fall air on my face, that certain fall smell in the air… it’s wonderful. Fall also is the time where I take some personal time in the kitchen to bake pie and breads (for some reason it is the only season that I am inspired to do so, LOL).
I get all nesty and start cooking up a storm. Usually rich soups and chilis to freeze for the winter. And, it time to change out the comforter to the heavier set and put the flannel sheets on the bed. Oh, yeah.
I love the decorating and all the wonderful recipes that include pumpkin and spice and apples!!! YUMMY!!!
Carving pumpkins for Halloween! I wouldn’t let a year go by without it!
My favorite fall activity is a little cliche, but I love to jump in the leaves! Especially now that I have kids.

My favorite fall activity is raking up the leaves and watching my kids play in them as I shoot pictures. Fall is my favorite time of the year – so everything about it is a favorite!
My favorite fall activity is decorating the house with fall colors and for Halloween. I love the colorful leaves, smell of smoke in the air, hot apple cider, pumpkin spice lates, and turning on the heat for the first time of the season!
Definitely baking–I just made brownies yesterday because the air turned crisp. I just can’t help associating fall with warm breads and baked goods. Yum!
I love fall — it’s apple picking time! Probably the most fun part of it all is making homemade applesauce with a small group of female friends of all different ages and having plenty of apples to chop up and dip into homemade caramel sauce.
NOTHING says fall like the smell of an apple-y kitchen and gabbing with friends!
My favorite thing is still making applebutter with our former church. Every year they get everyone together and make literally tons of applebutter. It is the main fundraiser for the ladies’ ministry. I peeled so many apples one year that I developed an apple allergy. I can’t peel but I still love sitting around with everyone, hearing great stories and laughing. Oh the laughter. It’s the best part about fall.
I am not very lucky at winning things but what do I have to lose huh? My favorite fall activity is cleaning up the garden and getting it ready for winter. Love how nice it looks with everything cut back and the garden trash all cleaned up.
Thanks for the chance to win this awesome pan.
When fall finally gets here I love decorating my house with the gourds that I have grown in my garden! It makes my house look so pretty, I love it!
Love the trees turning color, the crisp smell of fall in the air – pumpkin picking and carving… Fall is definitely one of my fav seasons – just wish winter didn’t follow or at least wasn’t so LONG….
my favorite fall activity is savoring college footballs on Saturdays – especially when it cools off enough (in SC) to have the windows open – we love to tailgate at home with rotisserie chicken salad, crackers, banana pepper rings, pickles, chips, dip…and whatever else suits our fancy – fun times!

I love baking and decorating during the fall, but I also love going for walks when all the leaves are changing colors.
Fall is all about sports for us! Tailgating season is finally here! We are passionate UNT fans and we don’t miss a chance to cheer for the Mean Green. Plus, you have playoff baseball, which is greatness. And this year our beloved Rangers are in the playoff hunt. We usually tailgate w/o our five kids, but we’ll take them to one or two games. Fall also means camping and fires and cozy nights with the family.
My favorite fall activity is going for a long walk among the fall foliage… love taking pictures of my kiddos this time of year. The cool, crisp air does us all a lot of good!

Thanks for the AWESOME giveaway!
My favorite fall activity is driving around and taking in all of the beautiful fall colors on the trees ~ It’s such a glorious time of year in Minnesota. Where do we always end up on those drives? At a local farm and pumpkin patch where we can select the perfect pumpkin and pick our own apples right from the tree – truly awesome!
apple picking!
Oh I love fall decorating, and making a trip to the pumpkin patch! It has become a fun family tradition!
My favorite fall activity is carving pumpkins. We have so much fun every year picking out our pumpkins and using the Pumpkin Master’s kits to make cool designs on them. I’ve also made my own stencils to make our pumpkins.
I love being outdoors in the fall- apple orchards, pumpkin patch, hiking, taking pictures. I even like doing yard work! I really love all the colors of the leaves changing!
I tweeted about the giveaway: http://twitter.com/ferbird/status/3863125529
Thanks for the cool ideas. Fall is nice in the rocky mountains. With the changing of the aspen trees
I love pulling out candles and decorating with natural elements (pumpkins, gourds, etc). Growing up in the desert (where there are basically two seasons) make experiencing this season a lot more fun!

My favorite fall activity is decorating the house. I love to go for walks outdoors and bring home sticks with berries, or red leaves or rose hips to add to my decor. I love the smell of autumn!
The weather here has turned cool and I absolutely LOVE getting my Fall decorations out. Simmering soup on the stove, pumpkin bread baking in the oven and my ceramic pumpkins on the table. Ahhh, I love Fall!
Heading up to New England for the Fall…totally looking forward to apple picking and the seeing all the colors.
My favorite fall activity is making batches of Chai Tea mix to share with friends for when the weather turns cool. I use this recipe:

Not original, but I love going apple picking, eating a warm apple dumpling w/ ice cream at the snack stand, and then going home w/ my apples and making apple crisp! Yum!
This pan looks amazing. Thanks for the giveaway!
I love fall because my birthday is in October; since I was a little girl, it has been my favorite season. I love the cooler nights, football, back to school (I am a teacher!) for my children and I, new television shows, and the anticipation of holidays with family and friends.
I am so interested in this pan; it seems amazing. Thanks!
Fall is my favorite season and my favorite fall activity is driving to a state park and enjoying the colorful leaves. We always stop at local homestyle restaurants and shop along the way for pumpkins and Amish foods.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm… Does sitting by the fire, reading a book, sipping on a cup of tea, curled up in a soft blanket next to my hubby, and burning a yummy cadle count as a fall activity???
Color changing, apple picking, pumpkin carving, light jacket wearing and that crisp smell and feel to the air.

Fall is my most favorite time of year! I always get a warm, happy, peaceful feeling inside when August slowly turns into September and the cool mornings start to happen followed by the beautiful colors of changing leaves. I love everything about this time of year! More time with family, football games, hot chocolate, apple cider, grape picking/wine harvest parties, decorating my home with warm, inviting colors and putting out vanilla and cinnamon candles. I love baking with my mom and making homemade chili, casserol dishes, and of course meals for Thanksgiving!! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Fall!!
My favorite fall activity is hiking in the mountains. I love the crisp autumn air and the changing colors. I also enjoy baking on cool days before you crankup the furnace for winter.

Every fall, Thanksgiving weekend to be specific, our family gets together with a bunch of friends, and we camp at the beach. It is cold, and I am *not* a camping person, but it is so fun to be with friends and family, and we are giving our kids great memories.
My favorite fall activity is coming home after a high school football game on one of those gorgeous crisp nights and snuggling up with my mom and sharing a cup of coffee with my dad. Its the best feeling, being so comfortable and loved.
