I love aprons.
Love them.
Memories of wiping my flour dusted hands on my Granny’s aprons surge through me every time that I put an apron that was hers first.
Aprons are intriguing… each time we buy an apron or put one on the promise of the meals yet to come, the possibilities of the meals that we could make while wearing that apron flood our hearts and our minds. The heartwarming, tummy filling, soul nourishing family moments around the dinner table that were provided by our hands that we gently wiped on that apron… those are what make aprons so special.
When I was contacted by the amazingly talented women of The Hip Hostess about reviewing one of their aprons and offering a giveaway I literally quivered with excitement. Aprons, like cooking and all things food related, are a passion of mine, and the aprons that these women create are gorgeous, functional and fun. They even have matching aprons for our little cooks!
I chose this gorgeous demi apron in blue and brown because it just jumped off the page at me.
I wore it for Easter cooking and I have worn it every day since. It is as functional and practical as it is sassy and stylish.
I feel as if I should put on some kitten heels and pearls while wearing it, but it works perfectly with my flip flops, shorts and pony-tail.

Aprons make me think of happy times baking with my mom when I was a young girl. Now I love to collect pretty ones and hope to instill the same lovely memories with my daughter.

I, too, remember my grandma (Mammau) always wearing an apron. She had loads of them and always kept them washed, starched, ironed, and folded in a drawer. My Mammau always slept in a slip rather than a nightie (I have no idea why) and I can remember many a morning seeing her in the kitchen with a full-length apron on over her slip, cooking up breakfast for the family. My mom never wore an apron, so they always remind me of my Mammau.
I looked at the aprons and was bowled over–soooooooo pretty it would be hard to choose. I am the queen of pink so might choose the pink sorbet one, but love a damask print so might choose the black one, but then my newlywed daughter is doing her kitchen in cherry prints so would Looooove to have the cherry one for her!! What to do, what to do, what to do??
