In an effort to revitalize mom brain around the globe, and do away with the old time thinking that only men need a place to escape to, HomeGoods gifted my sweet friend Alli Worthington with $250 to make her own mom cave.
Alli had tasked out this job to me while I was watching her five boys for the weekend. Armed with a $250 gift card two hours of shopping time and those four things in mind, I found myself at HomeGoods overwhelmed but most definitely inspired.
Since there were a lot of small details to tackle with Alli’s space I had a good idea of what I needed from HomeGoods to make it all come together. First and foremost I needed extra seating, a place for Alli’s friends to hang when they dropped in for a visit. Second, a rug, because I have a self proclaimed rug addiction. And last but certainly not least, easy alternatives to decorating with children around. I know what it means to be a boy mom and I can tell you that tall glass vases and the flame of a real candle aren’t always appealing with daddy’s little linebackers milling about.
For seating and keeping Alli’s taste in mind I grabbed a tall toile ottoman/chair/storage/table top option and a tray for Alli to work her virtual magic online. For the rug, something silky and luxurious for her bright red painted toes. A bamboo vase, because it doesn’t shatter. Wall decals with uplifting words, and a magnolia print with the same tones. And probably my most favorite piece, the wall hanging with battery operated pillar candles! They smell like vanilla and I MUST hunt some down for myself. For storage I chose a mirrored box, a faux leather box and the inside of the ottoman to neatly stow away Alli’s treasures.
HomeGoods does a home good if you ask me. And a space for mom to chill and be inspired doesn’t have to be vast and delicate, it just needs to make her smile.

I would love a SQUISHY upholstered chair for my mom cave. Currently, I either sit on the floor while working (seriously. And I’m not getting any younger, people), or a wooden rocking chair. Neither are comfortable. I’d love a comfortable chair with clean lines that is versatile, comfortable and I can fancy up with some awesome throws.
And I definitely need some storage up in this place. WHAT A MESS IN HERE.
I also think you need to start with seating when creating your Mom Cave. I am all about large and comfy! Then it is on to lighting and storage – a must for a productive workplace.

This is SO timely. I need a computer desk so bad. I’m currently operating on a card table – sad but true. I need a real computer desk that doesn’t look like it came in a cardboard box AND won’t break my budget. Homegoods just may deliver that!

As any Mom, our kids and our family comes first. With a Mom cave, this will give me my very own corner that will inspire me to be more creative in my own pretty little corner that my daughter can visit when the chaos of life is over ( even for just a moment). I love doing creative things w/ my hand and I love that my daughter loves it when Mama gets creative. That small little Mom cave can really have a huge impact on our very simple life.

I definitely need a mom cave!!! I have a 20 year old son, 17 year old daughter, 16 , 13,9, and 8 year old step sons! I love my family to death but I need a me space. They have their big screen tv in the living room to watch all of their sports and movies but I do not have a place for just me. My Mom Cave would be very peaceful and tranquil someplace I could continue writing my book and poetry and practice my music and meditate and do my yoga. I have Fibromylagia and really need a quiet place to relax. I would make the room Shabby Chic with the walls painted the perfect color of blue, white furniture, a chandelier, fountain, and a big comfortable day bed with lots of pillows or a chaise I have always wanted a comfy chaise. I would have to have a very very soft comfy blanket and I would decorate with a lot of candels and sea shells and make the room like my very own little ocean cottage.

I have a momcave started. Currently it has 2 chairs(an extrra in case a sister or friends joins me) and a bookshelf. I just added a nice plant and candle but it sits on the floor.. I really need a pretty endtable and area rug. Then a few touches here and there make it complete.
I loved to look at the Mom Caves on HomeGoods…I especially loved the one with the love seat by Vanessa in Framingham, Mass. Right now, I have a room of sorts…small, and has the chest deep freeze, the pantry, and the washer dryer in it, but I do have a nice table, with a granite top, and cabinets over it, and over the washer and dryer. I would so love that love seat to just curl up in and read, etc. (no room, but I would love it!)

ottoman! I love upholstered ottomans (ottomen?) and there are always great ones at HomeGoods. Lighting gets high points too. Interesting chandeliers, lamps, etc.
LOVE the armless accent chairs…the gorgeous green one featured on the “accent furniture” page of the site is adorable. There is some beautiful, fun lighting there, too..and storage! And, and, and…

I LOVE, love, love Alli’s corner, It’s so inviting and refreshing…
As a homeschooling mom and volunteer teacher sometimes is a challenge to keep myself sane. Between preparing menus, lessons plans on a budget and keeping a functional, organized home it is difficult for me to sit down and relax. Having a corner just for myself with a comfy chair or two, nice lighting, pretty wall decor and accessories I would definitely be looking forward to relaxing and recharging my batteries so I can give my little ones and hubby my very best.

I’m in desperate need of a good chair (broken folding chair is not cutting it anymore) and some good, beautiful storage solutions (would paper clips stored in a vase be better than silly paper clip holder??)
