Spring Tablescape Ideas

I know its hard to think about with all the snow and ice around, but Spring will be here soon.  The ice will melt, the snow will fade away and slowly Spring flowers will start popping out.  One of the easiest ways to make it feel like Spring inside, even if it doesn't outside, is to decorate your table!  If you are dreaming of warmer weather and beautiful pops of color, then here are some great Spring tablescape ideas for you! The thing that I really love about all these ideas is that they are inexpensive to create.  Some, like the eggshell centerpieces, only require one or two supplies other then an empty eggshell!  It doesn't get much better (or cuter!) then that! 1. // Eggshell flower centerpiece // Save your eggshells and create this absolutely gorgeous centerpiece! 2. // … [Read more...]

Easter Chocolate Barks

At 22 years old, I feel a bit ashamed to admit that I still receive an Easter egg from my mum, and my grandmother..and my boyfriend. Needless to say, I always find myself with too much chocolate after Easter, I usually follow two strategies (depending on how I feel): Eat ALL the chocolate in a matter of 2/3 days (telling myself I should get rid of it before starting the “after Easter diet”) Store the chocolate in some container and forget all about it (i.e. letting it go to waste) Obviously, neither of these strategies are effective and/or clever, so I thought that this year I might turn my extra eggs into chocolate barks! Adding dried fruits, candies or pretzels makes the chocolate much more interesting and worth storing in a container and eating it a little bit at … [Read more...]

Easter Cake Recipe

I still can’t believe that Easter is in March this year, I always think of March as the month of Women’s day in Italy (8th of March) and it’s a way too early for Easter eggs and bunnies! So I decided to decorate my traditional carrot Easter cake with mimosas (typical flowers women are given on the 8th of March in Italy) to bring together the two celebrations! This cake is extra light and moist and it’s perfect for family parties. The frosting is very simple but blood orange juice pairs really well with the carrots, I also don’t add any butter because I like my frosting light, but you can use your usual cream cheese frosting recipe if you wish to. I used two 6 inch round pans  (plus a 7 inches square pan for the extra batter) but I think it can be baked in two 8 inches round … [Read more...]
