Snowman Footprint T-Shirts

HOW TO MAKE A FOOTPRINT SNOWMAN T-SHIRT I bought the shirts at Target for 4.99 each. You can use any t-shirt, but for the youngsters, this was the best. I also pre-washed the shirts. The best paint to use is craft fabric paint. It is very permanent. I have tried ink (which is what I did w/ these) and it washes off over time. I actually used embossing ink, and embossing powder first on these shirts. That washed off somewhat, so I re-touched the entire thing w/ fabric paint- which is why it looks like it does. I used a stipple brush, and I like that it looks all snowy. I painted the face w/ the paints after it dried. I also had the kids use their fingers to make the snowflakes. Of course it helps to have someone help you when doing the footprint. The best thing to do, is put a … [Read more...]

I love that these cookies are versatile, too.  You can, of course, choose whichever colors you'd like.  You can insert a stick and make lollipops.  Wrap them up in cellophane bags and pretty ties for a sweet treat.  Try a red and green version for the holidays.  Let the kids shape them in some other creative way.  Lots of options. Turkey Art for Little Turkeys

My son had a friend over today and we decided to make Turkeys out of coffee filters. This project has been around for a while, but it's always a fun one! Here is what you need: coffee filters paper towels water-based markers (such as Crayola) a squirt bottle with water glue stick scrap paper in brown, red and yellow INSTRUCTIONS: Color the coffee filters in any way you like. Use lots of colors or just a few. I like to use at least two filters layered together. The color soaks through and you have two turkeys with just coloring one. After the coloring is done, spray the coffee filter with the squirt bottle, holding the filter over the sink. Hold it vertical and turn it around when you are done spraying. This will allow the colors to blend and run to make a neat … [Read more...]

Cereal Box Cut-Out Crafts Matching Game

Create your own Memory style matching game with cereal boxes. This will make it a quick and easy educational game for preschoolers. Open and flatten out your old brightly colored cereal, and other food, boxes. Choose about 6 different solid colors and cut out 2 pairs of same-size squares or circles from each. I used a circle cutter to get uniform shapes with guaranteed smooth edges. You could also trace a cup or saucer size plate. The trick is to make sure that the boxes you use are similar width, but differing colors. Let your children turn over the pieces, shuffle them, lay them out, and start matching. Such a simple and easy learning activity for young children and if they lose the pieces, rip them up or drool, color, or mark them, etc. you aren't out any money. … [Read more...]

Simple Beaded Pumpkin Craft for Kids

Here's a sweet little beaded pumpkin that even the littlest hands can make. Supplies: green chenille stems (pipe cleaners) orange beads Directions: Prepare your chenille stems by folding in half and twisting to create a loop -- this will be your stem. Fill both legs with beads, leaving a small piece of chenille stem empty at both ends. Twist the ends together and tuck inside the beads. Shape your pumpkin into a tall and skinny or short and plump shape! This is a great activity for a home or classroom Halloween party, or to keep little hands busy during pumpkin carving time. My girls like to wear them as bracelets and decorate all the door knobs in the house! Happy Halloween! … [Read more...]
