How Artwork Changed My Room from Drab to Fab!

There’s an old saying, “The dress maketh the man.” Well, in this case, the artwork maketh (or should I say minted) the room!

A few months ago, I began the process of looking at my family room to try to figure out how to give it an update and a fresh modern feel. Everything in this room was dated and the colors were just very bland – browns and beige! I wanted to add color, brighten the room and end up with a modern transitional feel. A designer pointed me to one of my favorite sites – minted.com for inspiration. Surely there would be something to inspire the new look of my family room.

The minted.com site is fabulous. They have anything and everything to get you excited about colors and looks. The art is sourced from a global marketplace of independent artists. These artists submit pieces to competitions and customers vote to tell Minted what to sell. In fact, minted sells the work of independent artists from more than 40 countries!  I love that they support independent artists and designers!

I can’t say enough amazing things about Minted artwork. First off, it has a fantastic selection of products from stationery, art, fabric and other home décor products. The Minted art section is an amazing resource to discover up and coming artists from all around the world There’s also so much flexibility to find just the right piece with colors, type of art and more. All the prints are limited edition with only 350 prints per size. Authorize signature available too. You can even choose to have it printed on museum quality archived paper or thick, matte art paper. Then there are ample framing options.

I had such a hard time choosing the right pieces to inspire the transformation – so many choices! But finally, the painting that would transform my family room was found by the talented designer Casey Hardin! Drum rolls, please…The painting Light in Dark by Jihye Back Kim in gold fever orange was just THAT painting that I had to have! The painting that would forever change my room. Yeah!!!

After choosing a center piece of artwork for my family room, I partnered with Minted.com to share with you the unfolding of my new living room! Minted generously offered me the opportunity to pick out my favorite framed prints to also create an art gallery wall for my family room. It took my days to decide which combinations to go with. They have everything from abstract art, landscapes, traditional and more. You can also narrow down pieces by size and color.  I simply took the colors of my favorite piece – blue, coral and gray to help me narrow down my choices.

My renovation plan was simple. First, I had to paint. I choose Benjamin Moore Classic Gray for a brighter and more modern feel.

Next, I re-arranged furniture and ordered some new pieces. Then I anxiously awaited the beautiful art pieces.

The paintings arrived the following week. I was SO EXCITED!  Minted does a great job in their packaging going above and beyond most companies.

Every print was carefully packaged and contained so much detail!

Each print comes with a special card about the artist and print! For example, in the “Linen Coast piece, I received a note from the artist with a certificate of authenticity. The end-result is clean, fresh and modern.” I so appreciate all the attention to details!

Every print came frames and included sturdy hang cords – making is so EASY to hang it. How great is that?
