Have you ever picked a recipe simply because you had all the ingredients it called for in your kitchen but then felt so smart when it turned out fabulous? That’s the case for me with these easy brownies.
Needing a quick crowd pleasing dessert to take along to a picnic, the plan was brownies. Easy to make, quick to bake and great for transport – plus these don’t require cocoa powder – just melting chocolate chips you probably have in your pantry.
Easy Brownies – adapted from Allrecipes
Makes 8-10
What You’ll Need:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
How to make these easy brownies:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- In a medium saucepan, heat sugar, butter and water over medium heat until boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips.
- When melted and smooth, mix in vanilla and eggs.
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt then stir into chocolate mixture .
- Spread into a greased 8×8 pan and bake 25-30 minutes. The original writer of this recipe warns you not to over bake these brownies. (I baked mine on half a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and because the mix was thinner I only need to bake for 15 minutes – so keep an eye on them the first time you make these.)
- Let cool, cut into to squares and enjoy those moist and chewy and dense and delicious treats!**
** Bakers tip: Cut warm brownies with a plastic knife to prevent the sticky gooey mess and a cleaner line for each brownie.
This recipe can be doubled and baked in a 9×13 pan.
