Coconut Oil has been around as long as coconuts have been around. Although, only in recent years have the health and beauty benefits been popping up all over the internet. There are hundreds of ways to use coconut oil for health and beauty, home care, pet care and even in cooking. Considering all of the ways it can be used, it’s an inexpensive and wonderful natural remedy.

Today I have 11 ways that you can use coconut oil that you may or may not have ever heard of. Most of these ways are unconventional but, very effective. Read on to see which way you’ll try today!

  • Oil Pulling – Pop a couple of tablespoons of Coconut Oil into your mouth and swish it around for 10 minutes or so {make sure to spit it out into the trash can, as it can clog your sink pipes or toilet}. The results are whiter teeth and a cleaner mouth.
  • Use as a Hair Conditioner – Hair products can be expensive. What’s more, you have NO idea what all of those ingredients are that you’re putting on your hair and scalp everyday. Coconut Oil is an all-natural alternative to condition your hair and give it a beautiful shine that you won’t find on the shampoo aisle at your big box store. Bonus: you’ll smell like Summer all year long!
  • Eye Make-Up Remover – How often do you remove your eye make-up at the end of a long day? You should do it EVERY time you wear it. Use Coconut Oil on a cotton ball to remove make-up quickly {and naturally}. It even works on stubborn waterproof mascara!
  • Soothe a Sunburn – If you spent a little too much time out in the sun, you can soothe your sunburned skin with coconut oil.
  • Prevent Stretch Marks – Coconut Oil has quite a few benefits for pregnant women, too. Rubbing it on your growing belly may help prevent stretch marks.
  • Make a Natural Deodorant – While drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet will aid in less body odor, using a natural deodorant may help, as well.
  • Use as an Antacid – Take a spoonful to help with heartburn, acid reflux or indigestion.
  • Soothes Eczema – Make sure you have extra virgin coconut oil and not refined,  bleached or deodorized. Rub it on the effected area to relieve itchiness and dryness.
  • Increase Milk Supply – Breast feeding moms can increase their milk supply by consuming coconut oil.
  • Relax in a Warm Bath – Add a generous scoop of coconut oil to your bath and sit back and enjoy the natural moisturizing benefits. Add Epsom salts {for sore muscles and bloating} and your favorite essential oils for an even more relaxing bath time.
  • Heal Bug Bites -Next time you get bit by a bug, put a drop or two of coconut oil on it to relieve itching.

This list is just a drop in the bucket to how coconut oil can positively benefit your every day life. I have personal experience in using coconut oil and am a firm believer in it’s natural wonders.
