4 Easy Ways to Add Photos to Blogger Posts

comp frustration

I have heard MANY people complaining about the way photos are uploaded to Blogger and asking how to make that easier, but other than cutting and pasting the HTML, there didn’t seem to be a way to insert photos into a post rather than just upload them and move them from the top to where you want them. It’s honestly maddening, and one of the main reasons I’ve contemplated moving to another platform.

I’m about to let you in on a little secret… I’ve found the way to make it work! Many of you may know about this already, but I’m willing to bet that many of you are thinking, “Tell me already!!”

Ok, here it is: Windows Live Writer

Yeah, I know. Sorta blows the mind, but it’s a little program that you download to your computer for free that allows you to write blog posts offline and will publish it to your blog when finished.

It will even publish the same post to multiple blogs if you want.

I’m sure this looks familiar. But, where is that image added?

That’s right, if you use Blogger, it’ added at the top. Pain in the butt, isn’t it?

Well, you could edit the HTML and cut and paste the image where you want it, or you could just do this…

Add a photo in Writer and it inserts the image right where your cursor was sitting, all in the format that your blog uses, Blogger, WordPress, LiveJournal, TypePad or anything else that tickles your fancy.

Easy Peasy. Besides putting the photos where you actually want them, you can insert photos from Flickr, work offline, and publish right from your desktop.

No, Windows Live Writer isn’t sponsoring this post, but I am all about the easy and this makes writing on Blogger easier for me.

Give it a shot and tell me what you think!

What do you think?

Thanks for the tips. It IS easier to insert photos using the live writer program. Being able to wrap test around photos is good. That is something I can’t work out how to do in Blogger. I’ll keep experimenting with Live Writer.
Does anyone have an easy way of reducing the size of the images that I want to include in the blog?

For those who don’t see a “make blogger in draft the default” option on their dashboards, go to http://draft.blogger.com/home (be signed in to your blog first). You’ll then have the option to check the box.

  6. 35

A much easier way to get your pictures on the web! Good tip!

Superb, exactly what i’ve been looking for, it may be Windows only but i can use VMWare fusion to run it on my Mac – thanks 🙂

  8. 37

Finally!!! Oh my gosh this is the best tip I’ve received in a long time. I usually have a lot of pics, my posts are long, and it takes forever!

  9. 38

Thanks for the great tip. After processing through a couple of different application sign up screens, the first post with photo was done in minutes. Very simple for a beginner.

I love this idea, but alas, I have a Mac. Are there any programs available that do this for OS x?

  13. 42

Darn! Only for Windows computers. Has anyone found a similar thing for Macs?

  14. 43

Thanks! I’m giving it a try now!!

  15. 44

Thank you sooo much 😀 I was getting so frustrated lol

I’ve been using it for a few months now & I really love it. I love that it will watermark your photos & that you can do different frame effects with it without changing the actual photo itself on your hard drive.

I just wish it would let you add blogger labels

I love the tips in the article and all the tips that were added in the comments too!

  20. 49

Yes the pic gets posted at the top but you can click on it, hold it and just move it where you want. That’s what I do!

  21. 50

I used Typepad, so this isn’t normally an issue, but when I guest blogged on a blogger based blog, it drove me crazy!!!

Naturally, I had a post where I used about 10 pictures. Some of them just ended up where they ended up as a result.

    This is a great tip!

  22. 51

Thanks for telling us about this! It is totally awesome, and I no longer have to curse at Blogger! Posting is so much easier, and faster. THANK YOU!

  23. 52

I’ll have to check that out, especially now that I have 2 blogs and want to post one topic to both of them every once in awhile. Thanks for the heads up!

  24. 53

Okay, here’s a little FYI. If you are a blogger user go to your dashboard and click the little box that says “make blogger in draft my default dashboard.” Then once you do that everytime you want to make a new post go to your dashboard, always, and click new post. When you upload pictures from there you can insert them wherever you have your cursor. It also lets you adjust the size of the picture once it is inserted!! Oh, yay! I was so happy when I found out how to do this!

Plus, you can do strike-outs from there. It is actually an option on each post!

Hope this helps! 🙂 It’s so easy now!

where is this little button again? cudnt find it on my dashboard. Seems like a good tip but frustrating because i cant find it.

      Thanks in advance

Jeez- I still have picture placement issues. No little button on the dashboard to switch modes, and on a MAC so the windows work around is no good. This issue drives me nuts! How hard is it to switch or transfer blogs? Write a post in 10 minutes and F&%K with pictures for an hour? I finally gave up and just center everything, but this is getting old.

Any thoughts on a similar program for Mac? I got super excited reading your post until I realized it’s just for Windows 🙂 Thanks for the info!

  26. 58

thanks for the heads up! Pictures on blogger have always been such a pain in the butt for me!
