In our house the new school year begins in August. This means the first week of August leaves me little time to buy back-to-school supplies, clothes, AND go grocery shopping for lunches. Like all parents, I want my kids to have a successful school year. If that’s going to happen they’re going to need healthy lunches to keep their brains fueled throughout the school day. Fresh fruits and veggies along with a filling sandwich or wrap is always the base of my kids lunches. Add in a sweet treat and a bottle of water and they have a healthy, nutritious lunch.
Today I have 7 Healthy Back-to-School Lunch Ideas that will give you a head start on giving your child a successful school year through a full belly and fueled brain.
/1/ BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad Wraps – This chicken salad can be made a couple of days ahead of time so you can make sandwiches or wraps for a couple school day’s lunches. Time saver!
/2/ Pizzadillas – It’s all the yummy goodness of a slice of cold pizza…only homemade and more healthy. Best part, you can customize each pizzadilla to each child’s liking with individual “toppings”.
/3/ Baked Ham and Cheese Rolls – Made with only 3 ingredients, these are easy-peasy! I bet even your pickiest eater will enjoy these rolls.
/4/ Homemade Uncrustable Sandwiches – There are going to be mornings that you just don’t have time to make a healthy lunch from scratch. Make a batch of these homemade Uncrustable sandwiches over the weekend and pop them in the freezer to save you a ton of time throughout the week. If your kids are anything like mine {and a majority of the rest of the country}, they LOVE PB&J and are sure to love these!
/5/ Sandwich Kabobs – If you put it on a stick, they will eat it. This is a great way to get kids to eat things they may not normally eat. There’s just a novelty of pulling food off of a stick and popping it into your mouth. And you can have fun with shapes on this one, too.
[sc:adsense ]/6/ Corn-Dog Nuggets – Remember what I said about food on a stick? Well, equally as fun is food that your kids can dip! These corn-dog nuggets look so tasty. Add a small container of ketchup or ranch dressing for dipping and you have yourself a WINNER!
/7/ Kid-Friendly Pasta Salad – I love, love, love pasta salad! My kids are no different. Take any pasta, add a few different veggies, beans and cheese, toss with your favorite dressing and you have a no-brainer meal that is healthy and filling. Did I mention how well pasta salad transports? It will make the perfect back-to-school lunch!
